Bout of Books 14 - Progress

agosto 17, 2015

So, like I said in the sign-up post, my goal is to finish The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley, and The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson. I am half way through the books but I want to finish them. So, as usual, this post will serve to register my progress throughout the week. Ler's see how it goes!

My Progress

Monday (Day 1)

Time devoted to reading: none
Pages read today: none
Total pages so far: none
Books finished: none
Notes: Today I was feeling a bit under the weather. I was not ok, not in the mood to read, so I ended up not reading at all. Not a good start, but there are still six days left.

Tuesday (day 2)

Time devoted to reading: 1 hour and 30 minutes
Pages read today: 10% (more or less 40 pages) of The Firebird by Susanna Kearsley
Total pages so far: 40 pages
Books finished: none
Notes: I am finding this book really boring. I loved The Winter Sea by the same author, and I was expecting more or less the same thing, but I'm not feeling this book. I also did not read much because I was busy with some university things.

Wednesday (day 3)

Time devoted to reading: 2 hours
Pages read today: 50 pages of The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
Total pages so far: 90 pages
Books finished: none
Notes: Since I was bored with The Firebird, I decided to go back to The Hero of Ages. I am glad I did it, although I did not read much. I am finding difficult to concentrate on my readings because I have a lot on my mind. Anyway I am really liking The Hero of Ages, it is an absolutely immersive book with an original fantasy world. I am loving it!

Thursday (day 4)

Time devoted to reading: 2 hours
Pages read today: 81 pages of The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
Total pages so far: 171 pages
Books finished: none
Notes: I am really excited by The Hero of Ages. It is such a good book, an awesome universe, so different that you learn a new thing in each chapter. I am loving the plot, the characters, the revelations, everything! And I hope I can finish it by the end of the week.

Friday (day 5)

Time devoted to reading: 2 hours
Pages read today: 74 pages of The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
Total pages so far: 245 pages
Books finished: none
Notes: I think I will not be able to finish The Firebird, but I want to finish The Hero of Ages. I am so close! And loving every single page of the book. I didn't read as much as I wanted because it was cleaning and decluttering day here, so I spent most of my day doing house chores. But the two hours I read were delicious!

Saturday (day 6)

Time devoted to reading: 1 hour and 15 minutes
Pages read today: 40 pages of The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
Total pages so far: 285 pages
Books finished: none
Notes: I am almost finished with The Hero of Ages! Only about 100 pages left. Let's see if I can do it!

Sunday (day 7)

Time devoted to reading: 3 hours
Pages read today: 130 pages of The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
Total pages so far: 415 pages
Books finished: one, The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
Notes: I managed to focus on my reading today because I wanted to finish the book by Sanderson, which I did. And what a ride! I absolutely loved it!

Wrap-Up

And so it ends! One more week of intense reading.. Well, not as intense as I thouht it would be, but still I was able to read more than I was reading. I really love Bout of Books because I feel more compeled to read - I establish goals in my mind and I try to keep them. But although I wanted to read and finish two books, I could only finish The Hero of Ages - which is an awesome book, by the way. The Firebird I just read a bit, and I don't know if I will finish it, because it bores me a bit.. Anyway, I found this Bout of Books really positive and I hope I can participate in the next one!
Here are the statistics:

Total time devoted to reading: 11 hours and 45 minutes. Not bad, but still I hoped I could read more.
Total pages read: A total of 415 pages: 40 from The Firebird and 345 from The Hero of Ages.
Total books finished: Although my goal was to finish reading two books, I only finished one: The Hero of Ages.

  2. I read the whole Mistborn trilogy this year and it's awesome! So original, complex, and interesting, it was one of the best things in the fanasy genre that I have ever read. So if you like a good fantasy book, I think you will like the Mistborn trilogy :)
